USGS – AlaskA

A cold working day with USGS on george parks highway / Alaska

On the highway bridge that leads over the Kashwitna River, USGS (United States Geographic Survey) employee Paul and Annelies installed new measuring devices and webcams for monitoring earthquakes and floods. Paul is the brother of a mountain rescue team colleague here in Bavaria/ Germany and a alpinist to his bones. During my stay in Alaska, he invited me to shoot their work. I took the opportunity to accompany them for a day as a photographer. Not the easiest job for them to do such delicate work in the cold of Alaska!!
